Program

Friday night, August 26th  - welcome meeting time 5:30pm (meeting location)

Yes, it was very nice. We had enough beer and plenty of food and it was a great

opportunity to talk and discuss. Well, we missed the "Hot Summer Eve" as it was
raining and we did not go to "The Beautiful Blue Danube" as there was flood
with ugly brown water - nevertheless, we spent a nice evening together at the
new campus of the University of Music and we had a great jam session. It was
really amazing how well musical acousticians do play their instruments. We

were listening to a diversified program of well known jazz standards played at
an astonishing level with alternating instrumentations for several hours.

Thank you to all who have contributed and to those many who
            demonstrated
their approval!

Session Schedule

There was a long and tight schedule which was met with great discipline. It was
exhausting and the coffee breaks could have been longer, that's true, but we got
many good lectures, we saw great keynote speakers, and we learned a lot about
most recent developments in the field of wind instrument acoustics.

We did not miss the thrill of finding the right path through a labyrinth of concurrent lectures organized in too many parallel sessions with sometimes overlapping focus of interest... This workshop was indeed different. We were able to listen to all contributions with none of them being out of our very specific topic. We returned with the feeling of having spent our time most efficiently.

The round table discussion was not at all boring. Short projected statements stimulated a lively discussion about possible ways to initiate a future closer collaboration between European and associated research groups. Information on European funding systems was given by an expert in this field. Specific project proposals have been presented and prospective partners evinced their interest.

A follow-up took place at the TC-MA meeting during the Forum Acusticum in Budapest and first results are the new working groups which will soon
be established by the TC-MA. The first working groups will work on a "Virtual Musical Instruments Museum", on "Musical Synthesis and Modelling", "Funding and Networking" and on "Education". Work groups will communicate at the TC-MA space of the EAA website.

Participating instrument makers indicated their need for translation of scientific papers into colloquial english as well as into their mother tongue. Some promising activities in this direction have already been started in France. Maybe workshops like this one can deal with this request by actively encouraging speakers to explicitly address instrument makers in some keynote or invited lectures.

Sunday, August 28th

Unfortunately the flood did not allow that
scenic boat trip by hydrofoil. So we went by
Bus. We stopped at Esztergom to have
lunch and to visit the famous cathedral and
we finished with a small sight-seeing tour
            through Budapest before everybody was
            delivered to his hotel.
